Let it Snow

First "big" snow on the cabin. Only about four-five inches but thats big for this neck of the woods. I thought it made a nice picture. Just a little bit got in under the door, walls aren't air tight but they are sealed.

  1. Beautiful! Have you spent a night in the cabin in the cold? Does it stay warm?

  2. Thanks Craig
The heater can raise the temp by 30 degrees so if its 20 it can be 50 in the cabin. So far I have only slept a few hours on the floor and chilled myself good but I wasn't well prepared (no blankets) I think its do-able with the right prep.

  4. What a great photo! I love your blog. I'd love to build a cabin of my own, alas I don't have the land to put it on.

  10. It may be small but you must feel enormous pride in the accomplishment. Have fun and enjoy.

  11. Thank you cheryl!

Anonymous, I started with old cement mix but soon found it had been contaminated with moisture and would not work the way I wanted. For now I have filled the gaps with a spray on insulation "Great Stuff" just to keep the wind and snow out for the winter. In the spring I plan to get back on the gaps with some fresh mortar mix.

    Thank you Tom!
It was a terrific exercise in so many ways.
